What We Found During the Original AC Diagnostic Visit

The original service call began with one of the more serious symptoms an air conditioning
system can experience: the breaker would trip whenever the cooling equipment attempted to run.

The completed indoor installation includes the new cased coil above the existing furnace,

furnace and cooling coil cabinet.

R-454B Refrigerant Used in the New Air Conditioning System

This new Trane air conditioning system uses R-454B refrigerant. R-454B is one of the
newer lower-global-warming-potential refrigerants being used in residential air conditioning
equipment as the HVAC industry transitions away from older refrigerants.

New R-454B equipment is specifically engineered for this refrigerant and includes manufacturer
requirements and safety provisions appropriate for an A2L refrigerant system.

HVAC technicians working with R-454B systems need to follow the equipment manufacturer’s procedures,
use appropriate service practices, and ensure the refrigeration system is properly prepared,
evacuated, charged, and tested.
